Memorial missions and outreach

For many years we have been sending teams to Peru to assist our LCMS Missionaries.
Where else might we serve?

MORE WINDOWS THAN MIRRORS
We believe church isn’t just about what we do inside the doors of our building. If that was the only focus, we would need to purchase a whole bunch of mirrors. Instead, we challenge our Memorial family to look through our windows to see those outside the walls who need to know about Jesus.
OUTREACH
There are so many needs beyond our doors. God has called us to not just identify those needs, but to also become part of the solution.
Some of our neighbors at Johnson Estates, a mobile home community near us, had homes in need of repairs. Our Outreach Team stepped in to offer assistance.
Most months, you can find some of our small groups at the St Francis House serving dinner. Rumor has it that delicious desserts also find their way to the serving counter courtesy of members of our Memorial family
Our reach extends beyond our city and out into our state as we travel twice a year to Rosebud Indian Reservation. Our assistance has ranged from sharing Vacation Bible School to repairing a Softball diamond. From re-roofing houses to filling a Christmas light bedecked bus with carolers. Our love for the people of Rosebud has grown each year as we return to share Jesus' love.
WHY REACH OUT?
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ (Matt 25:35-40 NIV)
MISSIONS
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matt 28:19-20 (NIV)
2007 began our strong bond with the people of Peru. The purpose of our first mission trip was to assist the people of the little village of Lucomo in cleaning heavy debris from an earthquake.
In subsequent years, we took ministry teams to help present Vacation Bible school, present a marriage seminar, assist in the rebuilding of their bocatoma (water diversion canal) and provide support to full time missionary staff in their ministry.
