Family Devotion: WHY WE NEED JESUS!
📷With the Covid19 Virus making us stop and distance ourselves from each other, we did not have SS this week at Memorial. So I wanted to give families an opportunity to do something to keep us focused on our Savior and our need for a Savior. This is floating around on Facebook and I remember being about 4th grade when I first saw this science project put it is so simple and can be timely as we journey this month together. It can be used to illustrate the need to wash our hands, but also our need for a Savior who rescues us from sin.
Supplies Needed:a shallow bowl
Water Black Pepper Dish Soap
Fill the bottom of the bowl with water. Sprinkle the pepper overtop so there is a simple layer across the bowl. Poke on finger into the bowl and look at your finger…is it covered with pepper? How is this like sin in the world? How do you wash it off?
Now, take some dish soap and put it on the tip of your finger, then dip it in the pepper water….what happens?! How is the soap like Jesus? Does He forgive and take our sin away?
Read: Galatians 1:3-5 (NIV)
3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Prayer: Dear God, Thank you for sending Jesus to be our Savior. For Jesus to take our sins away and forgiving us and giving us eternal life. Please forgive us for our sin and help us to tell others about the love of Jesus that is for all people. Amen.
